Engagement Session by the River in Chicago: Brooke and Walt

2024 is poised to be a year filled with romance, adventures, and inspiring couples, and none embody this spirit more than Brooke and Walt. They decided to have their engagement session by the river in Chicago, hitting up all their favorite spots around the city. We started with a relaxed walk through their favorite OZ park, then headed downtown for some awesome shots by the river. And of course, we couldn’t pass up the chance to capture the stunning view from River Point Park—it’s a must for any Chicago photo session! Meeting them was an instant delight; I knew their wedding journey would be something truly special.

Their Love Story

Brooke and Walt’s story unfolded in the unique circumstances of the pandemic in July 2020 when they first connected on Bumble. Their shared experience of pandemic life sparked conversation, and soon they were arranging a socially distanced date in the idyllic setting of Washington Square Park. Despite a downpour cutting their date short, it was undeniably magical.

As their relationship blossomed, Brooke and Walt cherished simple yet meaningful moments together. Regular park dates at Oz Park became their haven. They indulged in shared pizzas, enjoyed cheese and wine discreetly (hidden in water bottles!), and laughed until nightfall echoed with their joy.

A sunny Saturday morning brunch picnic with donuts, homemade muffins, mimosas, and endless laughter marked a turning point, realizing something extraordinary was unfolding—a tradition they now celebrate annually on their dating anniversary.

The Proposal

In 2023, Sundays became a heartwarming ritual as Brooke and Walt wrote down their favorite memories each week, saving them to revisit on New Year’s Eve. On that magical night, during a walk by the river, Walt surprised Brooke with his final note: “12/31/23: Got Engaged!”. He then got down on one knee and popped the question. The celebration continued with dinner at Prime and Provisions followed by a special family dinner at RPM the next day.

Their upcoming wedding promises to be as exceptional as their journey. Brooke is thrilled to wear her dream dress and marry Walt in the same church as her great-grandparents, Assumption Catholic Church. Walt eagerly anticipates having everyone they love in one place to celebrate!

Engagement Session by the River in Chicago

Chicago’s riverfront provided the stunning backdrop for Brooke and Walt’s engagement session, and their love story unfolded beautifully against it. Capturing their genuine connection and the pure excitement for their upcoming wedding was an absolute privilege. Their genuine affection is truly inspiring!

Congratulations, Brooke and Walt! I am eagerly anticipating capturing the magic of your Viceroy Chicago wedding this fall!
