Liz and Kevin’s Chicago Engagement Session

Today I have an extraordinary love story to share with you. Liz and Kevin are an incredible couple, and I couldn’t be more excited to tell you all about their journey.

Their story began with a digital spark—a “Hey” on the dating app Bumble in 2018. Liz had to be the brave one to initiate the conversation after they matched. She went straight to the point and asked Kevin about his favorite Indian restaurants in the city. Talk about a direct approach! But hey, it worked like a charm. They hit it off right from the start, and before they knew it, they were meeting up for a drink.

Their first rendezvous took place at the cozy and charming Charleston, a little cocktail bar in the heart of their beloved neighborhood, Bucktown. They hit it off instantly, engaging in deep conversations about life, travel, and the ups and downs of work. Time flew by, and they realized that this was just the beginning of something special.

As their dates progressed, Liz and Kevin discovered more about each other’s quirks, passions, and unique sense of humor. There was a moment at a music festival that sealed the deal for Kevin—he heard Liz crack a hilarious joke and thought to himself, “Wow, she’s not only beautiful, but she’s witty too. She’s the one.” Liz, on the other hand, had a feeling deep within that Kevin was the perfect match for her. When asked by a coworker if she thought he was “the one,” she confidently replied, “Uh yeah, actually I think so.” Sometimes, our hearts just know.

Their journey faced an unexpected twist when the pandemic hit. Liz made a bold decision—she moved into Kevin’s basement apartment, leaving behind her downtown dream pad. Little did they know that this leap of faith would strengthen their bond and take their love to new heights. In their cozy haven, they laughed, they shared dreams, and they made memories that would last a lifetime. Their quarantine adventure became a chapter of love and growth, paving the way for their next big step together.

And what better way to mark that next step than with a proposal that pays homage to their beautiful love story? The Charleston bar, the very place where their first chapter unfolded, became the setting for this special moment. It was their annual anniversary celebration, and Kevin had a surprise up his sleeve. With a vase of flowers in hand, he dropped to one knee and asked Liz to spend forever by his side. Right there, in the very spot where their love story began, they said “yes” to their future together. Cue the tears of joy and the sound of hearts skipping a beat!

As their photographer, I was thrilled to capture their incredible connection in their engagement session. We embarked on a delightful adventure through Bucktown, starting at the bar where their love story took flight. The streets of their neighborhood became our canvas, painting a picture of their shared laughter, their stories, and their infectious energy. From there, we ventured to The 606 walking trail, a haven of natural beauty and vibrant street art, adding a touch of urban charm to their photos.

And the grand finale? We ascended to the rooftop of the iconic Robey Hotel, bathed in the warm glow of the golden hour. Against the backdrop of the magnificent city skyline, Liz and Kevin’s love radiated with unparalleled intensity.

Liz and Kevin, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your incredible journey. Your love and laughter are truly infectious, and I’m grateful to document your engagement day.
