A Nighttime Adventure: Talia and Mac’s Chicago Engagement
I always recommend locations with special meaning for engagement shoots, and Talia and Mac took that advice and ran with it. Their session became a nostalgic journey through their favorite spots in Chicago. Places that witnessed the early days of their love story. We started in their charming Roscoe Village neighborhood, then headed to Montrose Beach for stunning skyline shots.
Life throws curveballs, and sometimes those curveballs become beautiful memories. Originally planned for a 7:30 pm start at The Wrigley Building, heavy traffic threw a wrench in the schedule, transforming the session into an unplanned nighttime engagement session in Chicago. This detour led to some breathtaking photos, capturing Chicago’s downtown bathed in the warm glow of city lights.
Talia and Mac
Talia and Mac met almost nine years ago in Riverdale, NY, at Manhattan College after getting recruited to play college lacrosse. This transition was relatively close to home for Talia due to her being born and raised in Northern NJ. Mac relocated from Michigan and, for the first time ever, experienced distance from the Midwest. Before Mac had even a moment to feel homesick, he met Talia just 24 hours into the welcome week, who sparked a conversation around her family she’s visited for as long as she could remember in Michigan.
It was the day before Christmas when Mac surprised Talia with a proposal in Jersey City, NJ. The location was extra special – right outside their first home, with a breathtaking view of New York City. It is the place where their love story began. Although both families were in the NJ/NY area for the holidays, Talia was surprised since they’d been out late the night before, and Mac’s parents were arriving from Michigan the next day. When Mac started looking for his cameramen—Talia’s dad and brother—she suspected something. To her surprise, Mac proposed, despite saying they were meeting an old college friend for brunch. Their families joined to celebrate right after, leaving Talia joyfully surprised for days.
Looking Forward to “I Do”
Talia and Mac’s nighttime engagement session in Chicago was an absolute blast! These two are so much fun, and bringing their adorable furbaby Yogi made the session even cuter.
The couple is most excited about their wedding day, a celebration surrounded by friends and family who have played a role in their love story. They envision an intimate and personal day in their new home city of Chicago, a memory they and their guests will cherish for years to come.
