A common tale that has rung true throughout this pandemic season, is one of wedding ceremony renewals. This was the case for Caitlin and Matt and their wedding at the Morton Arboretum. The couple had made the decision to get married in a very small ceremony (just the parent’s and groom’s brother) right after the pandemic hit and then made the decision to renew their vows in a bigger ceremony this year.
Caitlin and Matt are truly a great couple! From their kindness to their sense of humor, this couple has found their perfect match. They wanted to keep the day simple and make sure that the venue was one of the main features of the day as it was a beautiful location. They decided to go with a traditional Catholic ceremony at St. Bernardine Catholic Church. However, due to the ongoing Covid restrictions, many of Caitlin’s family from Ireland could not travel over and so a live stream was set up and the wedding was broadcasted.
Wedding Reception at Ginkgo Room at the Morton Arboretum
The reception was at one of the most amazing nature venues. Morton Arboretum features nature trails, trees, and lakes. I like to think of it as a living museum of trees. The reception took place in the Ginkgo Room which features stunning floor-to-ceiling glass that offers incredible views of the Arboretum’s Meadow Lake.
Right at the ever-loved golden hour, I took the bride and groom to Meadow Lake and captured some of their photos. Although the sunset did not stick around that long, it still gave us some incredible images.
We had some odd weather the week before the wedding. With a tornado touchdown, wind, and massive rainstorms, we could not have been more blessed with a perfect weather day.
Caitlin and Matt are headed off to Hawaii on their honeymoon. I hope to enjoy a good mix of relaxation and adventure. All the best to the happy couple as they start this new journey!
